Missing a proof of address?
Not on the lease, bills in a housemate’s name, or a year with nothing at all? See what else ISD accepts, and ask the people who can confirm where you lived. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
What counts as proof of address
For each year you claim, ISD asks for 150 points: one strong document and one supporting document, each showing your name, your address in Ireland and a date in that year.
Strong documents (100 points)
- A bank statement with regular transactions
- A Revenue Employment Detail Summary, P60 or Revenue statement
- A Department of Social Protection annual contribution statement
- A letter from your employer confirming your dates
Supporting documents (50 points)
- A utility bill
- A phone bill, mobile or landline
- A rent agreement or tenancy letter
- A medical or hospital letter confirming your address
- A credit card statement
- A letter from a school, housing authority, IPAS or Direct Provision
Ask for a letter
Free templates for a letter from your employer, a tenancy letter from your landlord, a letter from your GP or hospital, and a request to your bank for statements.
If you cannot get enough documents
ISD says to send every document you have and a Residential Proof Affidavit explaining why the others cannot be provided, sworn before a solicitor, commissioner for oaths, peace commissioner or notary public. Find a witness.
