Which permission periods count?
Record each permission separately. The official calculator counts Stamp 1A and lets you enter Stamp 1G as Stamp 1. Student permissions 2 and 2A are generally excluded from standard calculations. The current ISD citizenship guide lists Stamp 0 as time that counts. Keep your permission letter; the estimate is not a decision on your application.
The year immediately before applying has a continuous-residence requirement. Up to 70 absence days are allowed under the current framework; a further 30 may be considered for exceptional circumstances. Record departure and return dates, reasons and supporting documents. A discretionary result is not an approval.
Check each document’s name, Irish address and date before confirming it. Track the residence evidence target for each claimed year separately from identity evidence. Points alone do not establish that a document meets the official requirements; review document types, coverage and certification against the current scorecard.
The ISD stamp calculator is intended for non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss applicants. Documentary routes require evidence of residence. IrishReady can help organise that history, but nationality changes and unusual permission histories need individual review.
A child’s route depends on circumstances including birth, parentage and residence. Do not use the adult five-year calculation as a decision for a child. An authorised adult can organise the family record and check the appropriate official route before applying.
Recorded residence, travel and evidence organisation. Independent preparation tools, not legal advice or an eligibility decision. Discretionary cases and other legal conditions need individual assessment.
